Today, Facebook is proud to announce the new “Premium Profile“ feature. For the affordable price of $4.01/month per profile users will experience a new level of Facebook. This will help offset the growing cost of services provided to users and assure the social network continues it’s growth potential. Users will be given the opportunity to opt-out and beginning summer 2011 it will become a mandatory requirement for all users including businesses and organizations.

Not all is lost friends, we’re beginning to come around to this idea. In theory, all of the “bad” things on Facebook could be eliminated because of this fee. There could be less advertising, better privacy, and more features. Plus, we can finally hold their customer service accountable for all the random bugs that pop up. Ultimately, this may be a good thing for Facebook. And, who honestly doesn’t have an extra $4.01 to spare per month?

PS)Gotcha…April Fools

Pretty neat huh?  That’s an actual question you can answer on our Facebook Fan Page.

What’s this going to mean for the social network?  Well, first and foremost your News Feed is going to be flocked with all sorts of questions over the next few weeks.  As brands and pages explore this new feature you’re sure to be overwhelmed by the new feature.  Don’t worry, just like “Places”, the novelty wears off brands/fan pages will use this less and less.

How to Use Facebook Questions:

Step 1. Select the Question link from your ‘Status’ box.

Step 2. (Open-Ended Question) Currently, there are two types of questions you can ask. The first type is an ‘open ended’ question, where your friends can type their own answer.  To create an ‘open-ended’ Facebook question just type out your question in the space provided and then click the Ask Question button, or press enter.

Step 2B. (Poll Question) Want to supply multiple choice answers for your Facebook friends? Simply type out your question, but before you click the Ask Question button, click the Add Poll Options link.

The cool thing about the “Poll” feature is you can link it to Facebook Fan Pages by simply typing the name.  It will automatically ask you to choose which Fan Page you’d like it to link to.

That’s essentially it!  It’s super simple to post your own FB Question and invite your friends to answer it.  You’ll probably be surprised by how many people participate in your mini-poll.

Block / Hide Facebook Questions

Unfortunately there is no way to block Facebook Questions, as of now.  It also will display your name as a person who answered regardless of your privacy settings.  It’s very possibly Facebook will modify this in the near future and allow you to block/hide the feature.

This funny story comes to us from Australia where a 16-year old girl canceled her birthday party…

Not because she is a celebrity but rather because more than 200,000 people unexpectedly accepted her gracious invitation to attend.

The poor gal, “Jess” sent out a Facebook invitation to the party located at her house. Apparently failing to utilize Facebook privacy settings (NOTE: Keep your event private) A 17-year old prankster took advantage of the overly kind invite, and made the whole ordeal viral.

Apparently over 215,000 people responded. After that, Jess sent a message: “it’s f***in off.”

On the original invitation, she told her guests that they could bring friends, and that she “didn’t have enough time to invite everyone.” She asked if friends would do it on her behalf. Guess what? Her friends took her request a little too literally…

Maybe next year she’ll learn to use Facebook Privacy options ;)  LESSON LEARNED!
